Present Moment Power Challenge – Day 9
Disconnect From All The Things!
I saved this one for the (almost) last day since we’re plunging into the oh-so-necessary practice of a digital detox. That’s right—it’s time to disconnect from those digital devices and reconnect with the fabulous person you are and the world around you.
Now, I know what you’re thinking: “But my phone is my lifeline!” And while it’s true that technology keeps us connected, let’s be real for a hot second—sometimes it’s just a shiny distraction that pulls us away from the present moment. You know, that magical space where real life happens!
Let’s harness that present moment power and unplug for a bit. Trust me, your mind (and your sanity) will thank you! Imagine this: no buzzing notifications, no endless scrolling, just you and the world—how refreshing does that sound? It’s like a spa day for your brain!
Get ready to explore your surroundings, read a good book, or have an actual face-to-face conversation with someone. Yes, I said it—real human interaction (see Day 8 for more)! You might even rediscover hobbies you’ve shelved away while binge-watching the latest series.
Grab your favorite cozy blanket, make a cup of tea, and let’s make this digital detox a fabulous experience. You deserve it! Now go on, unplug, and let the magic of the present moment sweep you off your feet.

Your Guide to Unplugging!
- Choose Your Detox Duration:
- It’s time to decide how long you’re going to detox from your digital devices. Whether it’s a few hours, a full day, or even a weekend, commit to it! Just remember, the longer you go, the more fabulous you’ll feel.
- Notify Your Circle:
- Let your friends, family, and anyone else who might reach out know that you’re unplugging. Shoot them a quick message saying you’re taking a break and will get back to them later. Trust me, they’ll totally understand—and you’ll have the perfect excuse to dodge those never-ending group chats. Bye-bye, FOMO!
- Create a Tech-Free Zone:
- Designate a specific area in your home as your digital detox zone. This could be your living room, bedroom, or even a cozy little nook. Make it a sanctuary where you can relax, read, or just be without the constant buzz of notifications. Think of it as your personal retreat—no devices allowed!
- Gather Alternatives:
- Stock up on activities that don’t involve screens. Grab some books, puzzles, art supplies, or even a journal. Think of all those things you love to do but often neglect because you’re glued to your devices (this means I personally have to read a BOOK and not on my Kindle). This is your chance to rediscover your inner creative genius!
- Set Boundaries:
- If you absolutely must use your phone for emergencies, set some strict boundaries. Maybe allow yourself a quick check-in every few hours, but keep it brief. You want to detox, not just dip your toes in the digital pool! Stay strong!
- Plan Mindful Activities:
- Make a list of activities you want to dive into during your detox. Go for a walk, practice yoga, meditate, play with the dog, cook a new recipe, or catch up on that hobby you’ve been neglecting. The world is your oyster, darling, so get out there and enjoy it!
- Get Comfortable with Silence:
- Embrace the quiet, my friend! You might feel a little twitchy at first without your phone, but that’s totally okay. Use this time to reflect, breathe, and connect with your thoughts. It’s all part of the detox process, and you’re going to come out the other side feeling like a million bucks!
- What Was That Like:
- At the end of your detox period, take a moment to soak in how you felt. Did you notice any changes in your mood, energy levels, or creativity? This is your time to shine and bask in all the benefits of unplugging. You did it—now go celebrate your fabulous self!
I have learned a great deal by listening carefully.
