Loving Forgiveness

Loving Forgiveness

Hey there, amazing friend!

Let’s talk about something that can lighten your heart: loving forgiveness. It’s like giving yourself a big, warm hug while letting go of the heavy stuff that weighs you down.

I want to share a little story from my journey that really highlights the power of loving forgiveness. After coming out of a narcissistically abusive marriage, I found myself in a tangled web of anger and self-blame. I had to lean deep into forgiveness—not just for my abuser but also for myself. It was tough! I had tolerated the intolerable, and the guilt was suffocating.

One day, I decided enough was enough. I sat down with a journal and poured my heart out. I wrote a letter to my ex-husband, expressing all the pain and hurt I felt. Then, I turned the pen on myself. I acknowledged my mistakes and reminded myself that I was human, deserving of love and compassion.

This act of forgiving both my abuser and myself was liberating (even if I never sent the letter to my ex). It was like lifting a heavy backpack filled with stones. I realized that holding onto resentment only kept me trapped in a cycle of pain. As I embraced loving forgiveness, I began to heal, reclaiming my power and peace.

How can you start embracing loving forgiveness in your life? Here are three actions you can take right now:

  1. Write a Forgiveness Letter: Grab a pen and paper (or your favorite note app) and write a letter to someone you need to forgive. You don’t have to send it—just express your feelings and let it all out!
  2. Practice Self-Compassion: Look in the mirror and say something kind to yourself. Maybe you’ve made mistakes—who hasn’t? Remind yourself that it’s okay to be human.
  3. Create a Forgiveness Ritual: Light a candle, play some soothing music, and take a few deep breaths. Visualize releasing any grudges or resentment. Feel that weight lift!

Remember, loving forgiveness is a journey, not a destination. Take it one step at a time, and enjoy the freedom that comes with it! 💖

Happy journaling, and sending you all the love!
